Chlorinated Rubber Coatings:

 This group is based on chlorinated
rubber resin obtained from chlorinating process of natural
rubber. Due to the good resistance of these products against
alkaline and chemicals and also their fast drying properties,
they can be used as an anticorrosive paint. It has reasonable impactability and good flexibility It can be used as primers
(with anticorrosive pigments such as Iron Oxide, Zinc Chromate,
Zinc Phosphate, and Red Lead), mid or topcoats. However, a
three-layer system comprising chlorinated rubber primer +
mid-coat + topcoat ensures a good protection in moderate and
highly corrosive environments in factories, steel and
offshore structures, etc. Alkyd-modified product is also
available which is widely used as traffic paints due to good
adhesion on concrete and asphalt.
